St Clair neighbourhood

Beach access
Just a two minute walk from the Majestic Mansions seaside apartments, the St Clair Beach is renowned as New Zealand’s most consistent surf break, and on any given day, summer or winter, the waves are a playground for local surfers. If you’re not a surfer it’s a great place to just chill out with a book, make sand castles or take a dip. During the summer months, Lifeguards are on duty to keep everyone safe.
Hot salt water pool
St Clair Pool is an outdoor hot salt water pool built on a beautiful site at the southern end of St Clair beach. It’s wonderful location on the beachfront makes it a highly pleasurable swimming experience. The pool is heated to 28 degrees Celsius and is a mixture of salt and chlorinated water. It’s suitable for the whole family and features a paddling pool for toddlers, new changing facilities, a disabled change area and a cafe at the facility.
Long Dog Cafe
Long Dog Dunedin is the cafe that operates year round at the Hot Salt Water Pool, serving delicious wholesome goods like scones, scrolls and brulee tarts, made by real people sourcing local produce. The seaside views across the ocean make this a perfect place to sit and make the most of your Dunedin retreat.

The Esplanade
The Esplanade is an Italian Beachfront Pizza Restaurant & Bar – a piece of Italy perched on the New Zealand beachfront in St Clair, Dunedin. Another heritage building in the area with exposed brick walls and brilliant views out to sea. The restaurant serves wood-fired pizza, antipasto styled platters, exceptional pasta and small plates, complimented by a full-service bar showcasing predominantly Italian wines.

Salt Bar and Restaurant
Salt has become one of Dunedin's popular dining-out destinations and has also established itself as a vital component of the vibrant cafe scene at St Clair. A cafe during the day, morphs seamlessly into the bar and restaurant by night. The restaurant is where lunch and dinner can be enjoyed. The adjoining cafe and bar have a relaxed vibe, where patrons on warm days are able to soak up the sunshine in the outdoor seated area set up on the corner site which is touted as "the sunniest spot in St Clair".
